| Flash,
ASP and Database Integration |
Dynamic data and database
details can quickly be loaded into the Flash interface
for a unique visitor experience. These type of
applications, known as Dynamic or Interactive Flash,
work like
this:
- The Flash component serves as the “front
end” of these applications which means
it provides the graphics and codes users interact
with.
- The database serves as the “back end” because
it supplies information which will be displayed
to site visitors
- ASP works as the “middleware” which
transfers information from the database into
the Flash interface.
Dynamic or Interactive Flash can be incorporated
into your site in almost any imaginable way, such
as the following:
- ASP pages as middleware
- JavaScript
- Demonstrations
- Web directories and portals
- Individualized web sites
- E-commerce applications
- Chat rooms
In order to create these elements, NetDogz uses
ASP Flash Turbine to generate Flash movies containing
dynamic content. Because the program separates
the presentation from the content, the information

The entire process is seamless. Also, as users select certain accessories, other
accessories and products become disabled or enabled depending on which elements
were selected previously. Once the user has selected their product, they can
then print out their selection and submit the specs for a quote. The user and
admin both receive a detailed e-mail along with a unique ID number for reference
during future communications.
Common Question: "What if I want flash to dynamically display photographs
or other graphics and media formats?"
NetDogz' Response: Because of the limitations of
Flash, you cannot display JPEG,GIF or audio files automatically.
This can be handled by converting the graphic files to Flash format.
Which may work for a few files, but for hundreds or thousands of
files to convert, it might prove to be impractical. An alternative
is to use Macromedia's Generator. This can handle dynamic generation
of graphic files, but the high cost of the software and the server
license costs are a deterrent to many clients. NetDogz has developed
